Feed the rock wallabies (fruit and vegetables) late in the afternoon at Arcadia. Take some bread and feed the fish at the same location.
See koalas in the wild on the Forts Walk. It is a 20 minute walk to the start of the track from Bungalow Bay Koala Village and a one hour walk on the track. The best time to see koalas is late afternoon or early morning. Concrete structures from the Second World War and gun emplacements are still intact and offer 360 degree views. The track is classed as a moderate walk. Don’t forget hat, sunscreen and bottled water.
Enjoy Horseshoe Bay beach, the island’s longest beach. This is a safe place to swim as there are lifesavers on duty. The beach is only a 4 minute leisurely walk from Bungalow Bay Koala Village.
Go fishing off the beach at Horseshoe Bay or from the jetty at Picnic Bay. These areas are zoned Recreational Fishing by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
Enjoy a self guided walk of the habitats of wetlands at the Environmental Lagoon (situated opposite Bungalow Bay Koala Village), mangroves (at the back of Horseshoe Bay Village) and coastal dunes at the back of the beach.
There is interpretative signage within the resort which tells you all about these habitats and where to find them.
Enjoy the best 5 beaches on Magnetic Island, – Horseshoe Bay, Balding Bay, Radical Bay, Florence Bay and Arthur Bay on a day coastal bush walk. Once you leave Horseshoe Bay, the bays are secluded so don’t forget your lunch and plenty of water.
Snorkel on fringing reef, see magnificent coral and colourful tropical fish just off the beach at Florence Bay and Arthur Bay. These 2 bays can be accessed from the start of the Forts Walk.

There are weekly markets on Maggie where you get to meet the local identities who sell everything from jewellery, fruit and vegetables and bric-a-brac. Arcadia markets every Friday from 6pm – 9pm and Saturday mornings from 8am to 11am.next to the RSL Club, Hayles Ave.
